Beliefs

What do we stand for?

As a Christian church, we seek to believe and to live out the word of God, the Bible.

We do this because it is what the Lord Jesus himself did, and what he taught his followers to do. When he was temped by the devil, he quoted Scripture in reply (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). When he engaged in debate, he rebuked his opponents for rejecting the word of God (Matthew 15:1–9).

We aim to put the word of God first, even when it challenges our own thinking or the views of the world around us.

We are part of a wider body of churches, the International Presbyterian Church

As a presbyterian church, we teach and preach in accord with the Westminster Confession of Faith, a summary of biblical teaching. That said, you don’t have to know anything about or agree with everything in the Confession to be a part of Ebenezer Chapel. You are welcome to attend whatever you believe, and membership requires a credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, not agreement with everything in the Confession.
